1. Do all apartments come fully furnished?
All apartments come fully furnished but you are more than welcome to bring additional items with you. You are responsible for the furniture and it must remain in the apartment.

2. How do I qualify for an apartment?

3. What is a guarantor?
A guarantor is also known as a co-signer. If an applicant does not meet our income section of our criteria, you may have someone such as a parent or guardian sign the lease to guaranty that rent is paid. We ask that full-time students provide us with a guarantor, though you may qualify without one.

4. Do you allow pets and what are the fees?
Yes. We allow cats and dogs less than 75lbs. There are some breed restrictions on dogs. There is a $300 non-refundable pet fee for each registered pet and a $15 monthly pet rent fee for each pet.

5. Do you have storage?
Yes. Each apartment has a lockable storage room outside the apartment.

6. Do you have to be a student to live here?
No. Sunchase Apartments complies with all state and federal fair housing laws. We will lease to any applicant that qualifies based on our rental criteria.

7. How close are you to campus and do you provide transportation?
Sunchase is 1.7 miles from ECU campus. We also have a bus that stops at two locations on the property. The bus provides transportation to campus every 20 minutes in front of Christenbury Gym. We also have the ECU weekend shuttle that provides transportation between Sunchase and the Stop Shop. This route runs from 10pm - 2am.

8. What money is due when I sign my lease?
A total of $300 is due when you sign your lease. This includes a $50 application fee, a $100 non-refundable reservation fee, and a $150 refundable security deposit.

9. How and when do I pick up my keys to the apartment?
You may pick up your keys beginning at noon the day your lease begins. After you complete your move-in forms and your move-in fees have been paid, you will receive your keys to your new apartment.

10. Can I change my lease dates or move-in early?
No. Our lease dates are set by building and cannot be changed. We do, however, stagger our lease dates to give residents more options in selecting an apartment.

11. What if I do not have other roommates?
That's o.k.! All of our apartments are individually leased.

12. Am I responsible if my roommate doesn't pay their rent?
Sunchase provides individual leases for each resident. If by chance one of your roommates defaulted on their rent, you would not be held responsible.

13. How do I pay rent and when is it due?
Rent is due on the first of every month. We allow a 5 day grace period. Rent that is not received in our office by end of business on the 5th will be assessed a late fee. You can pay by check or money order at the management office. You can pay by Credit cards, but we do use a third party and they charge a fee of $17.95 per transaction. Rent is considered to be paid when received by the office regardless of the postmark date. We do not accept cash or post-dated checks.

14. Do you have assigned parking?
Each resident at Sunchase is provided a parking pass (first come - first serve). Towing is enforced at your expense.

15. What is a contingency lease?
A contingency lease is a lease signed prior to our renewal deadline. It is dependent on the current resident's renewal decision. If the current resident does not renew their lease for the following year prior to the deadline, the contingency lease becomes valid. If the current resident does renew, we will try to place you into another Sunchase apartment.

16. What size apartments do you have?
We have 2, 3, and 4 bedroom suite style apartments. All bedrooms have their own private bath.

Yes. Every bedroom at Sunchase has its own private bath in the room.

18. What is included in the rent?
All our apartments are fully furnished. They include electric, water/sewer, trash, basic extended cable and high speed Internet. We have no utility overages that are billed back to the resident.

19. What is the reservation fee for?
The $100 reservation fee is a non-refundable, reservation fee charged when you sign the lease.

20. Do you offer different lease terms?
All leases are fixed term leases. Our apartments have assigned lease dates, and all rooms in the same apartment will start and end on the same day. Occasionally we offer semester leases, call the office to check availability.
